
Bipin Shah, Chairman & CEO
Bipin Shah has a strong record of accomplishment as a senior executive and as a successful early stage investor in more than a dozen companies. President and CEO of Kovair Software from late 2002, he assumed the role of CEO and Chairman of Kovair in August 2005 when it merged with Speedev. After a varied career at Fairchild Semiconductor where he held Engineering, Manufacturing and ultimately Business Unit Management responsibility, Bipin joined Altera Corporation, a leading manufacturer of programmable logic devices at its early inception in 1984. As a member of Altera’s executive management team, he held positions of VP, Operations and President of Altera Japan, and was operationally responsible for revenue growth from zero to over $500 million run rate in 1994, and participated in Altera’s IPO in 1989. From 1997 to 1999, Bipin served as President and CEO of the startup firm Invox Technology, whose multi-level Flash memory technology was acquired by SanDisk Corporation.
Bipin currently serves on the Boards of three Silicon Valley start up companies, and has previously served on the Boards of more than ten venture capital backed companies. Bipin holds a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a BEE (Honors) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India.
Sabyasachi “Sky” Basu, CTO & President
Sky Basu was founding CEO of Speedev, continuing in that capacity from 2000 – 2005. After the merger with Kovair, Sky assumed his current role of CTO and President of Kovair Software. After raising the initial VC funding for Speedev, he led the development and launch of the most comprehensive 3rd generation Application Lifecycle Management system in the market, gaining over 50 customers while steering the company through the post dotcom economic downturn. Prior to founding Speedev, Sky was CTO and Founder of AgniRoth Consulting, a boutique consulting firm. Prior to AgniRoth, Sky founded Temple Private Ltd. in 1986, one of the earliest offshore software development firms doing product development and outsourced consulting projects. Through his efforts, Temple was acquired by The Magus Group in 1995.
In his 20-year career, Sky has worked extensively in the Internet arena, delivering mission-critical applications for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, and developed several successful products. His innovative ideas and real-world solutions have led to several patents and awards. He holds a B. Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology and a MS from the Indian Statistical Institute.
Atanu Majumdar, VP of Engineering
Atanu Majumdar was a co-founder of Speedev, and headed its software engineering team. Since the merger with Kovair Software, Atanu has been VP of Engineering for Kovair. Prior to Speedev, Atanu joined AgniRoth in 1996, where his mastery of multiple technologies and design and building of scalable system architectures won client praise, and an award from Microsoft. At AgniRoth, he created several of their 'Best Practices,' and was project manager and senior developer for many Silicon Valley organizations including HP, Adaptec, Stanford University and USWeb (now marchFIRST). Prior to AgniRoth he was a software engineer at Temple Private Ltd.
Atanu has 13 years of experience in software design, architecture and project management. Atanu graduated at the top of his class with a B. Tech in Computer Science from Calcutta University, where he also completed a B.S. in Physics.
Martin Onofrio, Vice President of Sales
Martin Onofrio has extensive experience in the enterprise software space. Notably, he was an original member of SAP America's team and enjoyed 7 plus years with SAP. As a VP of Sales, he and his team added hundreds of new named customers and drove revenue in excess of 250 million dollars. His career has spanned many functional disciplines to include ERP, CRM, SCM, EAI, eCommerce, wireless, and outsourcing. He also spent time as a senior executive at both KANA software and Blue Martini where he and his teams closed some of the largest transactions in these companies' respective histories. Recently, he has been consulting with several companies to help them achieve their product launch goals and revenue objectives. He is a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Michael Peercy, Director of Product Development
Michael Peercy is the Director of Product Development at Kovair where he oversees product definition, architecture, development, and release. He brings to the position nine years of experience in the development of web-based applications. Prior to joining Kovair four years ago, Michael was a Co-Founder and Principal Engineer at ShortCycles, Inc., which produced a CRM product for document distribution and communication, and a Senior Engineer at Sierra Vista Research, which brought the technology into the merger that formed ShortCycles. He was also a Senior Engineer at IBM's Almaden Research Center where he was a developer of systems management products.
Michael has a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a BS in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette.
